MoRTH plans to float bids for monetisation of two bundles of highway projects in May 2018

The MoRTH plans to monetise two more bundles of road projects and float bids for the same in May 2018. It plans to auction 18-20 highway projects in these two tranches and expects to raise $2 billion through the same. During 2018-19, the ministry plans to monetise a total of four tranches. Cumulatively, around 1,000 km will be bid out in the second and third tranches in May while the remaining 640 km will be bid out in the fourth tranche in June-July 2018. The projects to be auctioned span nine states. Highway stretches in Odisha and West Bengal are being prepared to be placed under the auction in the second tranche, followed by stretches in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Telangana in the third phase. The fourth tranche of projects will be from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
