MoP proposes setting up of an SPV to operate stressed assets

The Ministry of Power has proposed the setting up of an SPV, a collaboration between the Power Finance Corporation, the Rural Electrification Corporation and NTPC Limited, to operate stressed power plants in the country. As per the proposal, these plants will be run by the SPV for a specific period, during which their value could increase owing to the expected increase in demand. The implementation of the proposal is, however, subject to approvals from the Ministry of Finance.
