India receives its first LNG cargo from the US

India received its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo shipment from the US on March 30, 2018, under a long-term supply deal. A charter ship, MV Meridian Spirit, carrying LNG from Louisiana arrived at Dabhol, Maharashtra. GAIL has contracted 3.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG from US energy firm Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass liquefaction facility in Louisiana.
