Global Infrastructure Partners seals deal to buy infrastructure portfolio of IDFC Alternatives

US-based PE firm Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) has struck a rare secondaries deal in India to buy the entire infrastructure portfolio of IDFC Alternatives, a local multi-asset PE firm. IDFC Alternatives manages two infrastructure funds, multiple sector-agnostic PE and real estate funds, and a venture capital fund in partnership with Parampara Capital. In total, IDFC Alternatives’ infrastructure portfolio is estimated to have assets worth at least $2 billion. The deal with GIP involves IDFC Alternatives’ infrastructure investments under both its PE and infrastructure funds. The management team of IDFC Alternatives’ infrastructure portfolio will be a part of the new entity under GIP.
