The construction of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway is almost complete and is expected to commence commercial operations soon. This fully access-controlled expressway has entry and exit points through designated interchanges only. Toll will be collected only for the distance travelled, for which toll plazas will be equipped with an electronic toll collection system. The project is estimated to cost Rs 44.2 billion and will be completed within 500 days, against the targeted 910 days. It is a fully solar-powered expressway. Eight solar power plants with a capacity of 4 MW have already been installed on the expressway.
