Indo-German agreement signed for technical cooperation

An MoU has been signed between India and Germany for technical co-operation under the Sustainable Urban Development Programme and the Smart Cities Mission in India. The German contribution to the project is up to Euro 8 million and the project will be for a duration of three years. The objective of the programme is to develop and apply concepts for sustainable urban development for the provision of basic urban services and housing in selected cities and smart cities in India. This is for sustainable urban development in the area of integrated planning, the provision of affordable housing and basic services with a particular focus on water, wastewater and solid waste management and mobility. The agreement was signed between the Government of India’s MoHUA, and GIZ GmbH, India, on behalf of the German government.
