In a bid to encourage the involvement of all stakeholders (including railway passengers, urban planners, architects and engineers) in the redevelopment of 635 stations, SRIJAN (Station Rejuvenation Initiative through Joint Action) was launched at the MyGov portal on January 26, 2018. The last date for submission of entries is March 26, 2018. Further, an open invitation was extended to all professionals for developing concept and master plans for the redevelopment of stations. An Architect-Samvad has also been planned to be held in March 2018 in which the MoR will interact with architects to discuss strategies of taking the programme forward. Currently, the first round of the international design competition for three stations, that is, Gwalior, Nagpur and Bayappanhalli, has been completed and the second stage will be completed by March 31, 2018. After this, engineering, procurement and construction tenders for these stations will be invited. For five stations – Chandigarh, Anand Vihar (Delhi), Secunderabad, Bengaluru and Pune – tenders for integrated station management through private parties have been called. Tenders for the redevelopment of the Chandigarh, Anand Vihar, Bijwasan and Surat stations are expected in March 2018.
