Frauscher reinforces its expansion in the Indian market

Frauscher Sensor Technology, which provides wheel detection systems, axle counters and tracking solutions to system integrators and railway operators, has reinforced its expansion in the Indian market by setting up a new office in Bengaluru. The new office was inaugurated on 15 February 2018. Frauscher, which entered the Indian market in 2013, has achieved strong growth over a five-year period.

Frauscher’s axle counting products, which are based on inductive sensor technology and distributed acoustic sensing, differ substantially from the systems of other providers as these include the option to mount sensors on the track without the need for drilling and without having to install any active electronics near the track. They also allow the establishment of an automatic failover, that is, a hot standby structure, via redundancies. Another key feature is the innovative diagnostic tool provided with the axle counters.

India is also one of the core markets for the Frauscher tracking solutions, FTS. These allow continuous tracking of trains, monitoring of train and infrastructure components and the detection of unauthorised movements in certain areas. Frauscher has also been chosen as a partner for the dedicated freight corridor project. Another flagship project in India is the Mumbai Urban Transport Project, being implemented in cooperation with the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation. Further, the research and development team of Frauscher India develops products specifically for the Indian market and optimises existing products to meet local requirements
