H-Energy signs JV agreement with K Line for LNG project in West Bengal

H-Energy Private Limited has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Limited (K Line) to jointly develop a project for importing liquefied natural gas (LNG). H-Energy will hold a 74 per cent stake in the JV company while K Line will hold the remaining 26 per cent. It envisages the setting up of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU)/floating storage unit (FSU) in Digha, West Bengal, for providing regasified LNG (R-LNG) to customers in West Bengal and Bangladesh. The FSRU/FSU will be provided by K Line while H-Energy will be responsible for sourcing LNG and supplying R-LNG to downstream customers.

At present, studies related to navigation simulations, uptime assessment, mooring analysis, etc., are under way to ensure safe and smooth project operation. The unit is expected to commence commercial operations by 2020.
