The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the development of metro rail systems in three cities – Agra, Kanpur and Meerut – at a total investment of $7.39 billion. The estimated investment for projects in Agra, Kanpur and Meerut is $2.18 billion, $2.87 billion and $2.33 billion respectively. The metro systems are expected to begin operations by 2024.
