Union government proposed new scheme – NextGen Airports – in Budget 2018-19

In Budget 2018-19, the central government has proposed a new scheme called NextGen Airports for Bharat [NABH] Nirman to expand the existing airport capacity by more than five times so as to handle a billion passengers annually. Under the new scheme, 100 airports will be established in 15 years at an estimated investment of Rs 4 trillion, of which a large percentage of the investment is expected to come from the private sector.
