The government has stated that optic fibre connectivity has been provided to over 110,000 gram panchayats under the BharatNet project. It also pointed that as on January 21, 2018, optic fibre connectivity has been provided to 110,848 gram panchayats by laying 258,635 km of OFC and 101,936 gram panchayats have been made service ready under the first phase of the BharatNet project.
