NTPC Limited has received expressions of interest from various companies and financial institutions for the acquisition of coal-based power projects in response to a tender issued in November 2017. Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited has offered to sell its 1,320 MW Nigrie thermal power project (TPP) while the State Bank of India has offered stressed TPPs of Bajaj Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited, Prayagraj Power Company Limited and Jindal India Thermal Power Limited to NTPC. The move to acquire TPPs is part of NTPC‘s strategy to grow inorganically.
