The Nagaland government has launched the Nagaland Road Maintenance Policy, 2017, to ensure the proper maintenance of state roads. Meanwhile, the government has also laid the foundation stone for two projects to improve roads at the Purana Bazaar junction. These include the two-laning of the 4.4 km road from New Field Check Gate to Zion Hospital and the four-laning of the 12.9 km road from Zion Hospital to Chumukedima. These are part of the project to repair NH-39, which is estimated to cost Rs 5.09 billion.
