MoU signed between India and Britain to improve transport systems and passenger services

An MoU has been signed between India and Britain to improve public transport systems and passenger services. The MoU will help in information sharing in the areas of data analysis, the induction of electric vehicles, ticketing, passenger information provision, urban transport planning and policy, governance and accountability arrangements, project financing, strategy and procurement methodologies, policy development and assessment of technology strategies, operations procurement and contracting, infrastructure maintenance strategies, infrastructure design and delivery, etc. The MoU will also help in strengthening the integrated public transport, thereby, allowing people from all segments of society to access quality public transport systems. Further, it will help in introducing innovative practices such as digital payments, standardising bus design, and the use of technology for demand projections and route rationalisation to enhance the efficiency of public transport operations.
