JNPT commences operations on fourth container terminal, Phase I

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has commenced operations on Phase I of the fourth container terminal – the Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal. With the formal inauguration likely to be held by end-February 2018, the terminal received its maiden vessel on February 2, 2018, as part of the trial operations. The container terminal is being developed in two phases, of which Phase I entailed an investment of Rs 47.19 billion while Phase II is estimated to cost Rs 31.96 billion.
