The central government laid the foundation stone for the intermodal terminal at Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh on January 25, 2017. The terminal will be constructed under the JMVP that aims to augment capacity of NW-1. It will be developed by the IWAI and is estimated to entail an investment of Rs 1.55 billion. The terminal will have facilities such as berths, storage areas and sheds, a terminal building, communications systems and an electrical substation. It will have a handling capacity of 1.2 mtpa.
