Airtel to transfer 25 per cent stake in its DTH arm to a wholly-owned subsidiary

Bharti Airtel will transfer a 25 per cent stake in its direct-to-home (DTH) arm, Bharti Telemedia Limited, to its wholly owned subsidiary Nettle Infrastructure Investments. However, the date of the sale transaction is yet to be decided by the company. Earlier, in December 2017, Airtel had signed an agreement to sell a 20 per cent stake in Bharti Telemedia to PE firm Warburg Pincus for about $350 million. Airtel was left with an 80 per cent stake in Bharti Telemedia upon closing of the transaction with the PE firm. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel’s board has also approved the acquisition of a 5 per cent stake in its subsidiary Indo Teleports (also known as Bharti Teleports) for Rs 23 million. It already holds 95 per cent stake in the company.
