Power Finance Corporation Consulting Limited (PFCCL) has signed an MoU with PTC India Limited for exploring power procurement from coal-based plants to facilitate signing of power purchase agreements (PPAs) with discoms. As of now, the MoU envisages power procurement only from commissioned projects without PPAs. It is estimated that over 12 GW of commissioned coal-based capacity is stressed owing to lack of PPAs. The auctions for the same are expected to be conducted soon wherein demand from all states will be aggregated and tariff-based competitive bids will be invited from gencos for medium-term PPAs.
