During the first nine months (April-December) of the current fiscal year (2017-18), Indian major ports handled 499.41 mt of traffic, compared to 481.87 mt in the corresponding period of 2016-17, registering an increase of 3.64 per cent. Deendayal port (the erstwhile Kandla port) handled the maximum traffic at 81.12 mt, followed by Paradip port (74.4 mt) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (48.89 mt).
