The Gujarat government has signed an MoU with the central government and Bharat Broadband Network Limited for the implementation of the second phase of the BharatNet project. As per the MoU, about 7,295 gram panchayats in Gujarat will be provided with high speed broadband connectivity at a total cost of Rs 16.7 billion, and will be funded entirely by the central government. The work is estimated to be completed by March 2019.
