Delhi launches pilot to use DMRC smartcards on 250 DTC buses

The Delhi government has launched a pilot programme to deploy a common mobility card for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses. The DMRC smart cards are being accepted on 200 DTC buses and 50 cluster buses in Delhi. The buses are equipped with electronic ticketing machines, which have secure access module chips to read the cards. Bus conductors swipe the passenger’s smart card and issue a paper ticket. The facility is currently available on three routes, namely, Mori Gate to Mayur Vihar (Phase III), Jahangirpuri to Anand Vihar and Mukherjee Nagar to Inderpuri. The government plans to extend the system to all 5,600 buses from March 2018.
