The International Road Assessment Programmme (IRAP) plans to engage central and state road transport ministries and highway authorities to assess Indian roads on the basis of their risk profile. The India chapter of the organisation – the India Road Assessment Programme is being supported by FedEx Express and will be hosted by the Asian Institute of Transport Development. It will work with government agencies as well as investors, researchers and non-governmental organisations to assess existing highways and promote the use of better designs to make roads safer.
