MoPNG advances introduction of BS-VI fuels in Delhi

On account of serious pollution levels in Delhi and adjoining areas, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) in consultation with oil marketing companies (OMCs) has decided to advance the introduction of BS-VI cleaner grade auto fuels in Delhi with effect from April 1, 2018 instead of April 1, 2020. Further, the MoPNG has asked OMCs to examine the possibility of the introduction of BS-VI auto fuels in the whole National Capital Region with effect from April 1, 2019. The amount of sulphur in both petrol and diesel in BS-VI fuels is limited to a maximum of 10 parts per million.
