ISA becomes first treaty-based international organisation based in India

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) has become the first treaty-based international organisation to be based in India, with 19 countries ratifying its framework. The ISA is an initiative that was jointly launched by India and France in 2015 on the sidelines of the Conference of Parties-21 UN climate conference in Paris. The initiative is targeted at the aggregation of demand from solar-rich countries situated between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. Forty-six countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil and Chile are signatories to the agreement.
