Indian major ports handled 439.66 mt of traffic during April-November 2017

During the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal year (2017-18), Indian major ports handled 439.66 mt of traffic, compared to 424.96 mt in the corresponding period of 2016-17, registering an increase of 3.46 per cent. Deendayal port (erstwhile Kandla port) handled the maximum traffic at 72.03 mt, followed by Paradip port (64.97 mt) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (43.26 mt). In terms of growth, Cochin port reported the maximum increase (17.93 per cent), followed by Paradip (13.13 per cent) and Kolkata (12.64 per cent).
