SBI extends Rs 23.17 billion for rooftop solar power projects

The State Bank of India (SBI) has extended loans of over Rs 23 billion to seven companies for financing 575 MW of grid-connected solar rooftop projects. These companies are JSW Energy, Tata Renewable Energy, the Adani Group, Hinduja Renewables, Azure Power, Cleantech Solar and Hero Solar Energy. The loans are for financing grid-connected rooftop solar projects under an SBI-World Bank programme. SBI has availed of credit facilities aggregating $625 million from the World Bank for on-lending towards such projects. So far, SBI has sanctioned 50 per cent of the credit line to finance 43 projects with an aggregate capacity of 695 MW under the programme.
