State government sanctions waste-to-energy plant at Achan in Srinagar

The Jammu & Kashmir government has sanctioned a waste-to-energy plant at Achan under the Srinagar Solid Waste Management Project. The plant is expected to generate around 5 MW of electricity by processing 300 tonnes per day of municipal solid waste. It will be developed by Highlands Private Limited in collaboration with Keystone Energy Solutions and is expected to be operational by 2019.
