RITES prepares DPR for Phase III of Kochi metro

RITES Limited has prepared the DPR for Phase III of the Kochi Metro Rail Project in Kerala. As per the DPR, the project will connect Angamaly and Kochi airport, spanning a length of 19.03 km. It will consist of two corridors – the Aluva-Angamaly corridor (Corridor 1, 14 km) and the Kochi airport link corridor (Corridor 2, 5.03 km) and will be entirely elevated. Corridor 1 will have 11 stations, while Corridor 2 will have only three stations. The former is expected to entail an investment of Rs 31.15 billion while the latter will cost Rs 8.22 billion. Kochi Metro Rail Limited is expected to initiate measures to secure approvals for the project once the works for Phase II are under way.
