JNCH lays specific procedures for imports under DEEC/ EPCG scheme

The Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House (JNCH) has laid down the specific procedures to be followed for imports under the Duty Exemption Entitlement Certificate (DEEC)/Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) schemes, in its latest Public Notice No. 118/2017, dated September 11, 2017. It has been decided that henceforth bills of entry under the EPCG/ DEEC schemes will be filed only when complete details of the registration/bond debit are available with the importer/customs house agent. In the absence of the same, the bill of entry will be filed as a bill of entry for warehousing and the goods will be bonded in the warehouse. Subsequently, when all requisite registration details/bond debit details are available, such goods can be cleared under the DEEC/EPCG licence by filing an ex-bond bill of entry.
