The foundation stone for Phase I (Muktyala-Vijayawada stretch) of the Kakinada-Puducherry inland water transport project (National Waterway-4) was laid on October 3, 2017. Meanwhile, dredging work on the Muktyala-Vijayawada stretch is under way and is scheduled to be completed by June 2019.
