JSW Jaigarh port inaugurates edible oil terminal and maiden call of edible oil carrier MT Zao Galaxy

JSW Infrastructure inaugurated an edible oil terminal at Jaigarh port in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, on August 17, 2017. Edible oil carrier, MT Zao Galaxy, made the maiden call at the port.

The strategic location of Jaigarh port between the two major ports of Mumbai and Goa gives it an advantage of servicing the vast hinterland of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Jaigarh port has partnered with West India Continental Oil & Fats Private Limited and Narendra Forwarders Private Limited for handling the first edible oil cargo.

The maiden Handymax vessel, with a 159.03 metre LOA (length overall) and 27.1 metre beam, carried a parcel of 3,000 tonnes on board from Padang, Indonesia.

The edible oil terminal has a tank capacity of over 16,800 kilolitres with a provision of adding more tanks in the future. The unloading rate of the terminal is around 400 tonnes per hour. The terminal has three pumps for tanker loading and two booster pumps with a capacity of 400 cubic metres per hour. The terminal has four tanker loading bays for the evacuation of cargo to the hinterland.
