NHAI operationalises one dedicated FASTag lane on all toll plazas

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has operationalised one dedicated FASTag lane at all toll plazas in the country which will allow FASTag-enabled vehicles to move through the lane without stopping to pay toll on national highways. The penetration of FASTag has increased to 18 per cent as of August 31, 2017. FASTag is a radio frequency identification tag available both online and offline through banks and common service centres. For ease of obtaining FASTags,   two mobile applications were launched by NHAI on August 17, 2017. The central government has further mandated new vehicles being sold with effect from October 1, 2017 to be affixed with active FASTags.
