Bharti Airtel has completed the acquisition of Tikona Digital Networks and the latter has now become a whollyowned subsidiary of Bharti Airtel. The acquisition of Tikona gives Bharti Airtel access to the former’s 4G spectrum in five circles – Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh (East and West), Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. However, the transaction for spectrum trading in the Rajasthan circle is still awaiting approval from the Department of Telecommunications. The spectrum acquisition deal will enable Bharti Airtel to fill gaps in the 2300 MHz band of wireless broadband spectrum in the five circles, thereby securing a pan-India footprint in the band. Further, it will also enable Airtel to roll out high-speed 4G services using the new spectrum in the five circles.
