Leh airport expansion and Sabarimala greenfield airport projects move forward

The Indian Air Force has handed over 11.8 acres of land to AAI, paving the way for the Leh airport expansion project. The project, which has been pending for over 10 years, has an estimated cost of around Rs 2.05 billion and is now expected to be completed by 2020. It includes the construction of a new domestic terminal building for peak hour passengers, parking bays, multilevel parking and associated works. Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Kerala state cabinet has approved the Cheruvally estate site for the development of the Sabarimala greenfield airport project. The location was recommended by a committee appointed by the state government to find a suitable location for the airport.
