During the first four months (April-July) of the current fiscal year (2017-18), Indian major ports handled 221.96 million tonnes (mt) of traffic, compared to 213.16 mt in the corresponding period of 2016-17, registering an increase of 4.13 per cent. Kandla port handled the maximum traffic at 36.1 mt, followed by Paradip port (32.34 mt) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (21.84 mt). In terms of growth, Cochin port reported the maximum increase (22.09 per cent), followed by Paradip port (14.95 per cent) and New Mangalore port (14.59 per cent).
