Bhandwari solid waste management plant to be revived

The Haryana government has announced a project to revive the Bhandwari solid waste management plant in Gurugram by July 2019. The preliminary works on the plant are likely to commence by October 2017. The project is estimated to cost Rs 4.3 billion and will be executed by Ecogreen Energy Private Limited, a subsidiary of China Jinjiang Environment Holding Company Limited. It will be implemented on a design-build-finance-operate-transfer basis. The scope of works will involve the collection, transportation, processing and disposal of over 1,250 tonnes per day of waste from the cities of Gurugram and Faridabad. The plant is expected to generate about 10 MW of energy per day using refuse-derived fuel combustion technology in the treatment process. In this regard, the municipal corporations of Gurugram and Faridabad have signed an MoU for project execution.
