Aluva-Palarivattom section of Kochi metro commences operations

The Aluva-Palarivattom section of the Kochi Metro Rail Project, Phase I, in Kerala has commenced commercial operations. Phase I of the project involved the development of a 36.78 km long metro rail network in Kochi at an investment of Rs 71.37 billion. The metro rail network connects the areas of Aluva to Petta and has a total of 23 stations, which are all elevated. An SPV, Kochi Metro Rail Limited, had been formed by the central and state governments for project implementation.
