Union cabinet approves amendment of CRF

The Union cabinet has approved the proposal for the amendment of the Central Road Fund Act, 2000, to allocate 2.5 per cent of the proceeds of the Central Road Fund (CRF) for the development and maintenance of national waterways. An allocation of 2.5 per cent of the CRF proceeds will provide approximately Rs 20 billion per annum for the development and maintenance of national waterways at existing rates of duties providing finances to the CRF. The proposal also includes a reduction in the share of CRF funds provided for the development of national highways.
