Royal Dutch Shell and Engie (formerly GDF Suez LNG UK Limited) have exited the Kakinada Floating LNG Import Terminal Project over concerns about the demand for imported gas in India. Post the exit of the two companies, GAIL (India) Limited is in discussions with the Andhra Pradesh government on the possible project structure. The two firms wanted GAIL to guarantee a minimum sale of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) before an investment decision could be taken. However, such commitments were not in place.
