Central government takes digital route to speed up land acquisition

The MoRTH has undertaken a massive exercise of hosting digital details of land of over 0.64 million revenue villages across 668 districts, on a portal, “Bhoomiraashi” (compensation for land acquisition). This will be a one-point platform for online processing of land acquisition and notifications. Through this, land acquisitions will be quicker and this will help accelerate road construction projects. The system will also have a feature of sending SMS alerts with updates to affected landowners, for which their contact details will need to be registered with local land acquisition officials. The system software will also enable the direct transfer of compensation to the beneficiaries’ accounts from all the agencies under the MoRTH.
