The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a consultation paper to review aspects related to testing of mobile services by telecom operators before commercial launch. Through the consultation paper, TRAI has sought views on whether an operator should be allowed to enrol subscribers as test users, whether there should be any restrictions with regard to the number of test SIM cards and the period of their use, and whether there should be a fixed predefined timeline for the testing phase and what that time frame should be, beyond which commercial services must begin.
