Phase II of the Gurgaon Metro Rail Project has been formally inaugurated. The project, however, had already commenced commercial operations in March 2017. It involved the extension of the metro line for 7.1 km along the Golf Course Road from Sikanderpur station to Sector 56. The works required a total investment of Rs 21.43 billion. The project has been executed by a consortium of IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited and its subsidiary IL&FS Rail Limited. To implement the project, an SPV, Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon South Limited, had been incorporated.
