The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has notified an average tariff hike of 8 per cent for retail supply tariffs for 2017-18. This is significantly lower than the 25 per cent hike sought by the state distribution companies. The average tariff increase for 2017-18 works out to around 48 paise per unit and ranges from 15 paise to 50 paise per unit for all categories. The tariff will be applicable from April 1, 2017.
