During April 2017, Indian major ports handled 55.76 mt of traffic, compared to 52.46 mt in the corresponding month of the previous year, registering an increase of 6.27 per cent. Kandla port handled the maximum traffic at 9.32 mt, followed by Paradip port (7.34 mt) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (5.75 mt). In terms of growth, New Mangalore port reported the maximum increase (24.05 per cent), followed by Kandla port (17.9 per cent) and Cochin port (14.13 per cent).
