In the Ministry of Power’s Fifth Annual Integrated Rating of State Distribution Utilities (covering 41 discoms), Gujarat’s state discoms have retained the top position. In addition, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited has also moved to the top slot alongside the Gujarat utilities owing to continuous improvements in curbing transmission and distribution (T&D) losses and over 100 per cent collection efficiency, with no subsidy from the state government. Meanwhile, the state discoms of Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Jharkhand and Tripura stood at the bottom of the ranking list.
