Sanjoy Roy is the chief executive officer of Orange City Water Private Limited, the company in charge of implementing the 24×7 water supply project in Nagpur.

Associated with the company for the past three years, Roy says, “My present assignment at Orange City Water involves facing several social challenges. Connecting with people and garnering their participation have been essential factors in overcoming these challenges and executing the project successfully.” Besides 24×7 water supply, the project aims at equitable water distribution and the reduction of non-revenue water (NRW) levels in Nagpur so as to achieve NRW service level benchmarks. Roy is guiding the company in its phase-wise implementation, under which more than 300,000 residents have been covered so far.

With a career spanning over three decades, Roy has spent more than five years working at the CxO level. Prior to Orange City Water, he was associated with several organisations such as IOT Infrastructure & Energy Services Limited, Lanco Infratech Limited, Afcons Infrastructure Limited and Larsen & Tourbo.

Roy not only believes in team management, but also focuses on building the team’s capability and strength by developing people and creating leaders. He strives to ensure behavioural integration and cohesive functioning of his team members. He believes that only once these goals are achieved can a team achieve targets as a whole. Meanwhile, while implementing projects, Roy tries to balance the project outcome by ensuring both shareholders’ profits and customer satisfaction.

Strategic planning, team building, risk assessment, root-cause analysis of failure, and proactive mitigation planning are some of his key strengths. In addition, he works towards ensuring quality and safety in project outcomes. Roy holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and an MBA in finance. In his spare time, he likes to keep himself updated with the latest developments in technology and management. He also likes to read management and spiritual books. His wife, Riddhi, is the source of inspiration for all his critical decisions. The couple has two children – Nikita, who is currently pursuing an MBBS degree from the Government Medical College, Maharashtra, and Sombodhi, who is currently in school. w
