Nigdi-Dapodi corridor of Pimpri-Chinchwad BRT likely to be commissioned by end-April

The Nigdi-Dapodi corridor (Corridor 1) of the Pimpri Chinchwad Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is likely to be commissioned by end-April 2017. The corridor was earlier expected to be operational by March 2017, but is facing delays due to the slow pace of work. Currently, about 90 per cent of the work for developing bus shelters has been completed. The remaining work such as the installation of automatic doors, electrical units and intelligent traffic management systems is still under way. The project involves the development of a 45.86 km long BRT network at an investment of Rs 10.93 billion. An SPV – Pimpri Chinchwad Infrastructure Company – has been incorporated to implement the project.
