The Ministry of Railways (MoR) has flagged off/inaugurated various new trains/extension of trains. These are the Hubballi-Chickbenkal-Hubballi fast passenger train, the Pilibhit-Majhola Pakariya passenger train and the Jabalpur-Sukrimangela passenger train up to Ghansore. In 2016-17, the MoR had set a target of 2,800 km for gauge conversion, doubling and tripling of lines. The ministry has exceeded the target and completed work on a length of 2,855 km. Besides, while the railway electrification target for the year 2016-17 was 1,730 km, the MoR electrified a length of about 2,000 km.
