Indian shipping industry had fleet of 1,308 vessels as of February 28, 2017

As on February 28, 2017, the Indian shipping industry had a fleet of 1,308 vessels of 11.49 million gross registered tonnage (GRT) and 17.15 million deadweight tonnage (DWT). Of the total vessels, 903 were coastal vessels with a tonnage of 1.52 million GRT (1.69 million DWT) and 405 overseas vessels of 9.96 million GRT (15.45 million DWT). During the month of February 2017, three coastal vessels were added to the fleet. In addition, three overseas vessels were added to the overall fleet and four overseas vessels were sold, during the month.
